Submissions Process and Guidelines
For ARTMargins Online
- Texts undergo internal peer review by the editorial collective. In some instances, they might undergo external peer review
- ARTMargins Online publishes interviews, podcasts, videos, artist projects, reviews, short articles, essays
- Submissions are between 3000 and 5000 words (footnotes inclusive), except:
- Exhibition reviews are usually between 2000–2500 words
- Book reviews are usually between 1500–2500 words
- Interviews are usually between 2000–2500 words
- Editorial decisions are usually delivered within 3 weeks
For ARTMargins Print
- All article manuscripts undergo external peer review
- ARTMargins Print publishes research articles, review articles, translated documents, and artist projects
- Research articles are generally about 7500 words (footnotes inclusive)
- Review articles are between 4000 and 5000 words
- Documents are between 4000 and 5000 words (including introduction)
In preparing your manuscript for submission, please consult the style sheet below (based on Chicago Style), and the CMS online guide. Please note that articles that do not conform to ARTMargins style, as described in the Style Guide, will not be accepted.
